Kenyan RnB star Otile Brown not doesn’t want anything to do with AFRIMMA nominations or any awards in particular.
Otile Brown has been nominated under the category of Best Male Artist East Africa alongside Khaligraph Jones, Rayvanny, Harmonize, Diamond Platnumz among others.
The singer went to Instagram to decline the nomination saying awards do not define his career. He also took at Diamond and his crew at the same time saying they are the ones who should be nominated.
“Afrima bado wana ni nomineting’i…always count me out y’all….nominate hao wasanii wanajiita wanyama….it’s not my style,” he said.
It’s not the first time the singer has said he’s not interested in awards. The singer has always insisted the awards are never genuine and that’s why he doesn’t bother much with them.
In a separate post after being nominated, Otile stated that he lost hope in the system since it’s all meant to punish rather than reward artists.
“A while back I was called by some award show and guaranteed a win if I paid for my flight expenses to attend the award ceremony..That is when my team and I cancelled story za awards. Some artistes do that but I can never do such a thing. I’m true to myself.” Otile said.
