Kiambu County MCA Found Dead in an Indian Hotel Room


Members of County Assembly (MCA’s) of Kiambu are on mourning after their colleague, MCA Cyrus Omondi of Kahawa Wendani was found dead in a hotel room in India. Reports from the Kiambu County Assembly Speaker, Stephen Ndichu indicate that the MCA died after suffering an heart attack.

Speaking on the incident, MCA Julius Macharia of Watithie Ward, Kiambu County, said that he had received the sad news via social media and admitted that they were left in a profound shock since Omondi was in a good health at the time he left Kenya for India. Another MCA Simon Kuria Wakarema of Theta ward said that Omondi went to India to attend an education workshop since he was a member of Education Committee.

“After they broke news of Omondi’s death, all the MCAs in the Education Committee, switched off their cell phones, and none of us (in Kenya) could reach them,” Kuria narrated as quoted.

Cyrus Omondi was elected at 2017 polls on a Jubilee ticket after two failed attempts ODM ticket. The politician decided to decamp the orange party after realising that the area was much dominated by Jubilee Party. The MCA who was sociable and interacted freely with the citizens is the first political leader of Luo descent to be elected to lead the people of Kahawa Wendani.
