Joseph Irungu, famously known as Jowie has today been freed by a Nairobi court on a Kshs. 2 million bail. Jowie was the main suspect in the murder of Monica Kimani which occurred last year in her Kilimani apartment in Nairobi. Jowie has been in prison, months after other suspects were freed.
The courts had initially stated that he would be a flight risk considering he did not have a permanent address or a job that he was attached to.
Social media outcry recently might have contributed to his grant of bail after MP Babu Owino was freed on bail after allegedly shooting a DJ in a night club in a scene that was caught on camera.
