Jubilee Party’s secretary general, Raphael Tuju was this morning involved in a grisly road accident while on the way to attend the late President Moi’s funeral. The accident which happened at Magina on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway involved a Nairobi-bound matatu operated by Nyahururu’s Nuclear Sacco which is said to have been overtaking other traffic when it met head on with Tuju’s official car, a Landcruiser.
Tuju was immediately rushed to the Kijabe Mission Hospital and after being attended was airlifted to the Karen hospital in Nairobi. It was earlier reported that the matatu driver was also in critical condition and was at the ICU.
46-year-old Charles Oyaro who is Tuju’s bodyguard, sustained hand fractures while his driver, Austin Oindo, 33, sustained leg fractures. Passengers in the matatu were also reported to have sustained various injuries with the most serious being the driver and 2 other passengers. They were rushed to the same Kijabe Mission Hospital.
