NRG Radio presenter Rachel Muthoni Njeru, popularly known as Mwalimu Rachel could be sentenced to death after being charged with robbery with violence on Friday, January 31.

The media personality appeared at the Kikuyu Law Courts for allegedly stealing items worth Ksh 103,000 from an upcoming artist by the name Martin Mbugua.

According to a local tabloid, Mwalimu Rachel – who was in the company of unidentified men – assaulted the musician in question on January 17 in Kinoo.

Eyewitnesses claim that the radio presenter confronted Mbugua after dropping Peter Miracle Baby of Sailors Gang at his apartment. The two had attended a friend’s funeral earlier that day.

Mwalimu Rachel told Miracle Baby to go inside the house and remained with Mbugua where she beat him up with the help of her accomplices.

Apparently, Sailors Gang – the group that is behind hits such as Wamlambez, Pekejeng, Wainame – was to have a commercial shoot on that day but Miracle Baby’s absence caused them to lose the deal.

The matter was reported at Kinoo Police Station where Mbugua stated that apart from being beaten up, he also lost a watch worth Ksh 35,000, two silver chains worth Ksh 65,000 and Ksh 3,600 in cash.

Mwalimu Rachel was arraigned in court on Monday where she pleaded not guilty and was released on a Ksh 10,000. However, if she is found culpable she could be handed the maximum sentence which is death.
