As RMA was beating a retreat from the country’s luxury vehicle markw, Inchcape PLC, a London based firm, was Making its foray into the country. The London based trading company was taken over in the 70s by members of the Kenyatta Family including Peter muigai and Udi Gecaga.
Reports have it that BMW AG has notified decade long franchise holders Simba Corp of the intention to switch holders.
A formal announcement is expected to be made in the next few weeks and the UK multinational is set to start selling BMW cars from early next year.
“Inchcape is taking over the BMW dealership from Bavaria. An announcement to this effect will be made soon,”
A source privy to the matter told Business Daily.
The move is in line with the BMW’s strategy to have few dealers with larger franchise footprints as opposed to smaller dealers with limited markets.
Out of the brand new 137 luxury vehicles sold from January to June 2018, 74 were of the BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover Marques representing a 54% market share.
