Nation Media Group (NMG) has today launched it’s newest music product dubbed The Heat after falling out with veteran turntablist DJ Pinye.

The show, which is produced by showbiz bigwig Arthur Mopao, premiered on Monday even as Kenyans questioned the similarity of its name to the previous show dubbed The Beat.

Its believed that NMG fell out with DJ Pinye who came up with the concept of The Beat and produced it for NTV for the last 14 years.

Sources revealed that DJ Pinye took the media house to court over unpaid dues amounting to millions of shillings. Unfortunately, he lost the case and was asked to pay NMG.

It is then that he started hunting for a new home for The Beat. Those close to him claim he got an attractive offer from Citizen TV.

Backed into a corner, the Kimathi Street based media house decided to work on a program to replace The Beat – a move that saw the birth of The Heat.
