This is one odd story of a grown man earning a monthly salary who does not have a bank account. This was evident on Tuesday when he was named September SportPesa player of the month but could not immediately accept his Sh50,000 cheque.
Organisers of the event had a rough time giving out the cash award and at one point the player asked that the cheque be written in someone else’s name. “He told us that he does not have a bank account and it put us in a tricky situation but we are seeing how best to handle the situation,” said one of the organisers.
The lack of a bank account raised questions on how the expensive striker is paid his Sh200,000 plus a month salary. Sources in the club said that the players are paid in cash normally something that is not palatable for a club of Gor Mahia’s standard.
