Wanuri Kahiu had her day in court and what is a blow to KFCB Boss Ezekiel Mutua, she not only won, she also had the presiding judge grant her the permission to have the previously banned film screened anywhere through out the country for the next seven days.
When giving her ruling Justice Okwany said
“I am not convinced that Kenya is such a weak society that it cannot handle a gay theme. There are Kenyans who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy today!
The court granted conservatory orders on a motion by Katiba Institute and others lifting the Ban on Rafiki movie by Kenya Film Classification Board for 7 days for screening for adult audiences. This effectively means that Rafiki will be eligible to be shortlisted for the Oscars.
