A local dispute resolution body has finally awarded Former AFC Leopards coach, Ivan Minnaert Ksh 2.4 million in a case he had filed accusing his employer, AFC for unlawful dismissal. Ivan’s sigh of relief came after long running battles with AFC officials who had kicked him out of office for AFC’s consecutive poor results. The decision to pay the estranged coach was made by the newly formed Football Kenya Federation’s Arbitration Tribunal early this week.
The five member tribunal,in its 29 page ruling declared that the tribunal awards the former AFC leopards coach an equivalent of six months’ salary as compensation. While this came as good news to the Belgian International who was fired by Ingwe in September, he is not fully satisfied by the judgment.
‘’The most important thing is that I won.But I prefer to leave this experience,(which is) the worst in my coaching career.’’ Minnaert said while addressing journalist after the judgement. On the other hand,AFC official said that they will not appeal against the decision.’’ He had asked for 18 months but he’s only received 6 months. These are the consequences of lack of following procedure because his contract never had targets.’’ One of the club’s officials explained.
The team has however found a new replacement for Minnaert, Stewart Hall.
