Donald Kipkorir has been appointed chairperson of the team that will oversee the upcoming FKF elections. In a letter that is signed by the Federation Of Kenyan Football chairperson Sam Nyamweya reads, the lawyer is supposed to have taken over the reigns of the electoral team as of 17th of September and should hold the post until the conclusion of the elections.
Previous elections have been marred by allegations and counter allegations of rigging and rampant malpractice with most of it being directed to the incumbent chairperson.
The appointment letter reads in part
“this letter is issued to formalize your appointment as the member of the FKF Elections Board effective 17th September 2015 and runs until FKF elections are conclusively held”
The lawyer is yet to accept or reject the appointment but is largely expected to accept the position.
This year’s elections come at a time when the sport is at a serious low after losing out onkey international matches which would have seen the Harambee Stars proceed to continental and global competition if successful.
The incoming chairperson has an uphill task of restructuring the sport for better results.
