The Storymoja Hay Festival is organized in collaboration with Storymoja and the Hay Festival (UK).It is a four day celebration of Our Stories and Our Contemporary Culture through storytelling, books, live discussion forums, workshops, debates, live performances, competitions and music. The Festival attracts exciting local and international writers, artists and thinkers with a promise of both engaging and stimulating discussions as well as light-hearted entertainment.
The Schools Programme and the Storyhippo Children’s Village offers exciting activities and sessions for children ranging from Creative Writing Classes, Dance & Theatre Camps, Publish Your Own Book Session and Fun Science Experiments. The festival is the annual celebration of Storymoja’s year-round campaign to promote the culture of reading in Kenya, and Hay Festival is delighted to be part of this exciting campaign. With a mission of having a book in every hand, they welcome you to join their celebrations for the fifth annual Storymoja Hay Festival, which is set to go down from 19th September 2013 to the 22nd September.
It is a festival of novelists, poets, storytellers, campaigners and thinkers including: Teju Cole, Dr Auma Obama, Paula Kahumbu, Jenny Valentine, Mukesh Kapila, Alexander Ikawah, Dilman Dila, Atinuke, Richard Crompton, Nii Ayikwei Parkes, Clifton Gachagua, Mara Menzies, Surgeon Poet and Johan Harstad.You can come as a family to join events in the Storyhippo Village, come with friends to join the debate, come on your own to meet an international gathering of great writers and thinkers as they imagine the world, with them, at the National Museum of Kenya in Nairobi for this four-day forum.Among the speakers expected to be present are Niaje’s director, David Mugo among others.
